Zander was a lot calmer when he was younger, and many of those traits still show through, especially when he's around close family and friends. He cares about people that are close to him, even if he often tries to hide it behind a bluff of being a 'badass'. He's especially good around children, considering he practically had to raise his three younger siblings by himself. He loves kids, and although he doesn't think too much about the future, he feels that one day he'll want to have kids of his own. He can be very caring with his actions as well, with strong empathy for others, even those that he doesn't know personally or very well. He does his best to care for them in any way he can, even if it's something he's never done before in his life. He's not afraid to try new things, especially when it comes to doing something for someone he's close to.

However, those are sides of Zander that most people never get to see. He became very rebellious in his teenager years, and having only his mother around to teach him right from wrong made him grow up to be a very crass person. He constantly lies and tells fake brags about things he's never done, all so that he can fit in with the popular crowd. He often gets himself into trouble that he can't backpedal out of because of this, and he never learns his lesson. He's like a chihuahua — more bark than he is bite — and he tends to pick fights with people that are twice his size, even though he doesn't have the physical power to back it up. He often gets into fights because of his abrasive way of addressing others, and he tends to go home with injuries that he does his best to hide from his family. He doesn't want them to have to worry about him, even if he does feel a small amount of resentment towards his mother for her carefree attitude.

Zander wasn't raised in a polite household, so he has a very foul vocabulary. He constantly is swearing and speaking as though he were raised outside of the walls, as a drifter. He's not afraid to get lippy towards others that piss him off, which is another thing that often gets him into trouble. He isn't afraid to speak his mind, even if he's wrong or knows it'll get him into trouble. For whatever reason, he has trouble with filtering himself or exercising self-restraint, and can't help but constantly put his foot in his mouth. He never learns his lesson either, and is just as willing to insult someone a second time, even if they beat him up the first time around. He is extremely impulsive and reckless in the things he does, with little self-control. He does things that he thinks is a good idea at the time, even if it comes back to bite him in the ass in the end.

In many ways he's still very naive about the world, having grown up in the slums without much experience about the outside world. He believes everyone lives like them — and therefore, they're not 'poor', but rather simply 'living'. Zander has heard the tales about the world outside the walls, but the Infected still seem very much a bedtime story for him than a reality. Yet even with this naivety — this belief that there isn't much more to life than the things he knows — he's started to tread down a much darker path, aligning himself with one of the gangs for the sole fact of being able to earn more money. His emotions and reckless behavior have only doubled since then, confidence in himself built upon the behaviour of other gang members. Only time will tell when he'll get in trouble for good, and this time not be able to get back on his feet.
Quick History
Life before Jabberwockies     Age 0 — 21
Zander didn't have the best start to his life, even though he managed to pull through by the skin of his teeth. He has only faint memories of a happy childhood, with both a mother and a father to tuck him in at night. But it didn't last long. His father was with the Military, and he had died while out on patrol one day. The body was never recovered, and the events surrounding his death were kept a secret. All Zander remembers is his mother's wailing into the night and screaming something about how the Infected got him.

His mother fell into deep depression after his father's death, which she remained in for most of his early years, considering there was no real help for her in Stronghold. She became an alcoholic to get herself through the tough times, and even though she didn't always take the best care of herself, she always made sure to make sure that Zander was happy and healthy. They had no other family in Stronghold, no medical facilities to take care of them, and even as a small child Zander often found himself having to take care of his mother.

He was eight years old when his mother finally realized what she was doing to her life — and his — and made the decision to get better. She found help at a free clinic in the slums, found a paying job, and started dating again. Within a couple years she had found the love of her life, a stable income man that adored Zander as he would his own son. They soon got married, and when Zander turned 11, he got his first sibling — even though they were only related by blood through their mother, Zander still considered them his full-blooded sibling.

Over the next few years, his parents had two more children in rapid succession, making all three of them very young and close in age. His father and mother were both promoted to jobs in the Business District that required them to be out for longer hours, many days being twelve plus hours. That left Zander, who was already entering his teen years, to raise his three siblings on his own. He learned responsibility from a young age, his soft heart for his younger siblings encouraging him to raise them without complaint — but it also made him feel very trapped and alone, no time to hang out with friends or even try to date.

His life consisted of him taking care of his siblings and trying to find a job, leaving him no time to do the things a normal teenager would explore. As he got older, he started to become more rebellious, wanting to finally be able to do his own things — even if he was impulsive and without a proper understanding of the trouble he quickly got himself into. He became part of a very bad crowd, and it didn't take long before he learned of the opportunities of the Jabberwockies.
Life in Jabberwockies     Age 21+
Zander always wanted to prove he had what it took to keep up with the 'bad boys', and this impulsiveness is what eventually lead him to joining the Jabberwockies. In truth he's never seen the truly darker side of the gang, only the surface. It was a quick and easy way for him to make money with very little effort, even if there wasn't much understanding on his part as to what exactly he was doing. The gang invited him in after a few trial weeks, and he quickly gained the position as a low card in the Spades.

He was given the task of drug runner — not to be the one directly selling the drugs, but rather someone that could get the drugs from point A to point B. It was easy work, and Zander quickly adapted to his new life of caring for his siblings during the day, and drug running at night. He's only been doing it for a few months now, but as soon as the money started coming in, he couldn't hep but want to stay. However, his interactions with the gang have remained rather limited in this time, and he has yet to meet anyone further up the hierarchy — those that could really make him regret his decision.
Extra Information
Guitar    Self-Taught
One of Zander's last memories of his father was of him bringing home a guitar that he found in No-Man's Land. It's one of Zander's closest treasures — something he would have never been able to get normally — and he put in the time to fix it up and teach himself how to play. While not a professional by any means, he's still skilled enough to play a few melodies.
