Oh the tales that could be told about and by Gray, they would take far too long to all be told. Yet some of them are more important than others, more pressing and certainly more interesting to hear. No one wants to know what a man had for breakfast (blood, it was blood) but they like to know what he's up to on a daily (or nightly as the case may be) basis! And certainly Gray's life is a popular speculation by some and a well kept secret by others. But to speak of the life we must also speak of the who, so let's take a trip to learn about Gray Saint Pierre.

Gray Saint Pierre is a man of people, or at least the high society people who like to wine and dine. He's charming, sociable, and above all has the connections to be influential. Not only that but he's a very successful CEO of an architecture firm, something that took some by surprise. Yet of course it would be successful, even in a crumbling world you need to make sure what you do build is sturdy and can withstand anything that is thrown at it. And that is where he shines, making the Inner City the beautiful and alluring place it is as well as the safe place that it is. Because of this he's become rather well known and has the influence to make things happen. And, honestly, Gray thrives in this sort of environment. In the cutthroat world of backstabbing each other with the pretties of words and a smile always on your face. He's got the quick wits and personality to not only draw people in but keep his detractors from doing more than gossiping about him behind his back. And who cares about gossip? Him, he does. Not only what is about himself but also about everyone else. For the world thrives on gossip.

But a pretty smile and a charming wit can hide a lot of things. Under it all Gray does not live up to his middle name, in fact many might call him the exact opposite of a Saint. He's a sadistic bastard who thrives on the pain and suffering of others. Then again maybe that's what makes his charming person so successful because he has no fear of tearing down those who get in his way. He's determined and goal oriented, always striving for more and better. He wants to be on top and he'll do anything he possibly can to stay there. And while he would like to think he is always the cunning and sly man that he sees himself as... Well, no one is as perfect as they imagine they are. He has a temper that does get the best of him and often, though he's at least learned not to display it too easily in front of others. Still, outside the circles of high society its a little more well known that Gray Saint Pierre is not someone you wish to anger for he can and will rain hell down upon you.

With his true darker nature it seems almost fate that he isn't human but rather a level V infected, a status he has worked tirelessly to hide. But more than that he's put effort into forming a group to keep their secrets from everyone as much as possible. The Black Crown Society is a group he funds and helped put together with the express purpose of using any means necessary to keep the secrets that allow himself and others like him to live as normal a life as possible. The group is primarily made of assassins skilled in their trade and capable of taking out threats before they become problems. Though of course they don't go around advertising what they are, in fact they tend to jokingly call themselves lawyers for the most part. Acting as if they are upholding the law and the society itself thrives as a gentleman's (and ladies) club. One that is invite only as far as membership goes and utterly exclusive.

So if you're looking for someone to be on your side? Well Gray tends to only be on his own side, then again if you're useful he's not opposed to having you around. Interestingly enough the majority of those in The Black Crown Society are people he has stepped in to 'save' from some misfortune or terrible fate, a wonderful tactic to get them to feel nothing but loyalty for the man who not only saved them but gave them a much better life than they had before. That tends to be how he collects useful people and really outside of that he isn't the kind to form much of anything beyond perhaps a friendship, one that is either heavily weighted in his favor or at least mutually beneficial to him. And don't expect the man to find or give love, its not particularly something he cares to find or seek out and would truly rather avoid. After all to love means to give selflessly and, well, Gray is a selfish man down to his core.

So if you're looking for someone who can keep your secrets then you've found the man likely able to do so. But just know that his help doesn't come for free and the prices he asks? Well they can be high indeed.
Quick History
The Days Before
Gray Saint Pierre was born in Paris, France. A world away from where he exists now. His human life was not entirely unremarkable, though its ending was perhaps a touch premature. His family was quite affluent and as such his life was one of luxury. Not only that but he was the firstborn, and ended up being the only surviving, child of the family and a son at that. He was raised primarily by nannies rather than his own parents and only tended to see them at mealtimes or when there was some function which required the attendance of the entire family.
When he was five his mother became pregnant for the second time. However, nine months later both herself and her child were lost during child birth. This left him not only the only child but the only other family member of the Pierre family. His father, who had never been much of one for kindness or comfort, took slightly more interest in him after this. That interest was primarily in shaping his son to be a man just like him, cunning, devious, and of a mind to build the family fortune and influence just like himself. Something that Gray took to with great enthusiasm, just as he took to learning.
And so he would follow in his fathers footsteps and show himself to be both highly intelligent and highly motivated. These traits were celebrated and encouraged while he was also encouraged to continue disregarding such things as kindness and love. They were weaknesses his father did not deem necessary in his heir. And of course Gray followed his father into the prestigious world of architecture. Another thing he took quite well to. He lost his father when he was 21 years of age, just a year after he had married a young woman from a suitable home.
And so he took over the family home and the Pierre name as well and continued to build upon his father's legacy. He was not an affectionate husband nor father to his two sons. But he was at least present in their life for a time. During which he moved the family from Paris, France to America. He felt there were more opportunities there for a skilled architect and he was not wrong. But the world was slowly starting to face more and more chaos.
And it was the ultimate chaos that ripped through his life and changed everything. The virus was unheard of and no one was prepared, not even him. His family was killed and yet he was not dead. Instead he had been bitten but had survived, or so he had assumed. Until his mind started to leave him. Then all he knew was the nothingness.

The Days I Don't Remember
The time between when he was 34 years old and infected and the time he started to come back to himself was a void of darkness. His body was neither truly alive nor truly dead in his opinion for it moved and functioned but lacked the consciousness of thought.
And yet he slowly came back to himself. Slowly started to remember that he had once been a conscious thinking being, one with goals and dreams. Skills that could be useful. Yet it took time to fully come back to himself. And time to relearn what it meant to be human... or really pass for human. He would never be human again.

A Crown Of Night For The Black King
No man can walk into this world with everything, at least not when they are not born into the Stronghold. And that was not his fate. But he'd be damned if he allowed that to stop him. So he found his place in the slums to start, made a small name for himself and gave himself back an existence as a human that he would need to make a true place for himself to live.
From there he built upon his own little empire, using the knowledge of his previous life. As it turns out architecture is just as important now as it was before. In some ways it is even more important. And his tenacious attitude and general lack of morality when it came to getting what he wanted served him well. He's established himself and his company, Nightline Architecture as a truly impressive company. This has given him back the status and life he had before. But more than that it has allowed him to finance The Black Crown Society and go to great lengths to protect those level V infected who wish to live back among the cattle.
Extra Information
The Black Crown Society
Gray's involvement in The Black Crown Society is a bit of an open secret. Then again society knows the group as a gentleman's (and technically lady's) club. They assume it is simply a group who enjoys getting together and talking about anything and everything while enjoying a good cigar and a high class whiskey. An image that Gray promotes and encourages with gossip and even a few events they host in order to keep the reality of what they are a secret. He primarily funds the group while leaving the actual running of it to Bran Dunn, a man saved in his first few years of being back to humanity and brought with him into his success.
The reality of The Black Crown Society is that it is formed of both level V infected and humans invested in keeping the status of level V infected a secret. Most of the group is made up of assassins trained to take out threats to the secrets of those they protect getting out. Though there are also others in the group who have other jobs, such as intelligence gathering or getting only the best weapons. As a whole though they enjoy joking that they are 'lawyers' there to protect their clients.

Pets
Gray has three pet cats. A male Savannah cat named Zeus. A female Maine Coon cat named Hera. And one of their crossbred children, a female named Athena.
