Damon is a many of many talents and interests, or so he'd say. And he isn't entirely wrong. With an extremely inquisitive mind and large desire to learn new things, particularly if its hands on learning. He just enjoys doing things with his hands and has found that he has a real knack for that sort of learning. Anything physical seems to come real easy and naturally to him. Learning hand to hand combat? Done. Learning to whittle wood? Check. Learning anything from a book? Well that's going to be a little bit harder. Book learning has never come as quickly to him but he's a persistent bastard and won't give up on the things he wants to learn. Though it does play into why he's so good at both infiltration and explosives, both things that are very hands on.

And this has followed him into many other parts of his life. Damon is the kind of man who is very hands on with his friends and certainly with his lovers. He's the guy who gives hugs and claps a friend on the back. He's never shied away from physical contact and he's even been known to fall asleep cuddling a friend in an entirely platonic fashion. To him its just a part of being a friend. You are physical with those you care about in whatever way is comfortable for the both of you. Which can sometimes get him in some trouble since not everyone is so welcoming to physical contact. In fact he's gotten into fights over it before when there were misunderstandings. Yet he refuses to change, stubborn through and through as he is.

Not that Damon goes out of his way to get into fights or anything of the sort. Actually quite the opposite despite being a part of the military. He's not big on confrontation and hates arguing. Enough that he'll back down if its just about him. After all it doesn't really matter to him how others view him. But if they try to hurt someone he cares about in any way? Oh then the gloves are off and you better run. That's when he becomes extremely protective and extremely intense. To the point of sometimes being kind of scary actually. He simply values those around him too highly to let anyone talk shit about them or try to push them around, making him a valuable and loyal person to have in your life.

And while it once might have been said that Damon is both a very active man and a very happy man... well time changes things. Or perhaps its just current circumstances that have altered his outlook on life. After an accident at work in which an explosion took his right leg from mid calf down from him he's been struggling with not only depression but PTSD. It was a very traumatic experience for him and has made his life a lot more difficult. Adjusting to a prosthetic limb is a big change and its put him on medical leave that has him feeling like a failure and a useless member of society. And the depression and PTSD both have him turning to pain meds to self medicate so he doesn't feel nearly so much. This is a rather big change that anyone who knows him will notice.

Or perhaps not so much when one remembers that while Damon has always seemed a cheerful and friendly person he's also known to feel things extremely intensely and deeply. He's always been known to be highly empathic and the kind of man who never though it was weakness to cry when you needed to. Or at least to those who are close enough to him to know the real man. After all everyone puts on a bit of a display for the public and certainly someone inn the military more than others. To the military he's a cheerful, energetic, and competent Secret Service member who specializes in infiltration and explosives. But to his friends and family? Well he's all that and a lot more. He's a surprisingly sensitive soul who carries a lot of weight on his shoulders to keep others from having to do so. He'd always take the pain for those he cared about so they don't have to.

Perhaps that emotion is why his relationships are always built on emotion. Damon is the kind who really doesn't feel sexual attraction without that emotional connection. As such his relationships are typically intense and often end very badly. He's not had the most luck in love and its left him somewhat wary of losing his heart again. Then again... well he's always been the one to dive in head first anyway.
