Back then, the trick to survival was always to keep moving. To stay and build for a few years, harvest, and move on. It wasn't until 2024 this family company was tracked and brought to Stronghold. There was something happening to the crops and animals within Stronghold.
Their success caused Terrene to take over as the main research and developers for Stronghold with the military soon digging their claws in. The politics were not something the founders desired but they played the game to keep their family alive. Their children and children’s children continue the family legacy with some moving into the military.
While having outside compounds is discouraged, the people of Terrene had to explain how expansion would improve the quality of life of those who eat the food that is raised and grown. That with there being more people, more food is needed.
The charitable work they used to do, teaching people how to grow and harvest, soon had to stop once the military began taking more control within Terrene. Their charitable efforts changed to more, how should one say, population control?
It soured the relations between the two groups but eventually, a compromise was struck. Every quarter there will be a time when food can be donated to those in need, double around the holidays, but with a catch.

* Those in Terrene have done some shady business dealings with other groups outside the Military. Their goal is to get food to the masses in some way. Knowing that once it leaves their hands, they can't control the prices that others instill.
* There are occasions when their compounds are raided by rogues and those who are desperate. About 15 years ago, some disgruntled people tried to send a message. It was an obvious dumb move and it made many people suffer. The foolish ones didn't even have to be executed by the military as the people did it themselves.
* Claudette and Linden died in a routine check between compounds when an unexpected wave of Infected attacked their escorted vehicle.
* Linden's grandfather and two aunts are the primary Board members among the Military Officers with Linden's mother being one of the Military officers.

The world we live in is far from ideal where you are either on top or on the bottom. The idea of a "middle" is a falsehood that is placed in the minds of those who strive to be comfortable. That the society we live in isn't about good deeds like the time of my Great-Grandfather but a time of connections and doing what you must to survive.
I'm not saying that I am ungrateful but I don't feel entitled either. The world before this one, I have heard much about it. I have found old books, music, and movies about it. A vibrant world filled with so much color and life. A world where one wasn't caged in and had to find ways to survive. That what we have become as a society is in the realm of sci-fi fantasy with it being one step away from becoming Mad Max territory.
I understand the role our family plays in Stronghold. I understand the creed that our family follows and yet I can't help but resent those who abuse their power over us. So call it being rebellious or being a humanitarian, I do not care. I will make contracts with those who have connections outside of Stronghold, even if it means undermining the military. The family legacy. The very foundation. This is what the Founder's believed and there are some of us who still do.
With Linden, he will gladly be that person. Whether it is just for a moment or long term, he will talk your ear off to enjoying the silence shared. He knows what it is like to be alone or not have anyone there for you. To feel alone and unable to express yourself without being judged.
For those who do stick around, Linden is fiercely protective and will be there for them to the best of his ability. Usually having the bad habit of interjecting himself into things that he probably shouldn’t just because he is concerned. He will be there and support you the best way that he can by being that loyal companion and he understands that everyone makes mistakes but there are those that can’t forgiven
Love is such a fickle thing and some say that love and hate share the same core. Romance is portrayed in movies and texts that some would love to enjoy and experience. To be wooed and swept away by sweet words, but that’s the problem. They all belong in a different world. Despite these views, he is still a romantic at heart and still imagines it happening around him.
He has his moments of passion and the need for a companion, but he doesn’t seek it out. Some believe that Linden is asexual even though he has a flirty nature about him though there are rumors from those who have tried were all turned down. Apparently, the banter and flirtations are more than enough for him and he can call it a night.
- Armed with a smile and jokes, Linden is what you would consider your average nice guy at a glance. His face is expressive of what he is thinking almost 99% of the time. Laughing things off and usually has some form of comeback with a sarcastic tone. He is a deflector of situations, especially when it's too tense or trouble is brewing. He is used to eating a few knuckle sandwiches even though he could have avoided them. Keeping up the persona that he’s a foolhardy young man who intervenes at the wrong time.
- Linden keeps to himself at work which seems surprising to some, but when he is there then he is focused on the tasks at hand. He will never ignore someone who wishes to talk unless there’s a reason to. Usually warming up to new hires quickly by helping them around, giving some advice, and being someone that they can rely on for information. If they wish to pursue a work connection then he will happily comply.
- He does have moments where he seems depressed and laughs it off by telling others that they are imagining things. Making Linden work harder at holding everything in and finding ways to cope since he knows the cycle of life. People die every day in this bleak world where he tries to add splashes of color.
- 15 years ago, Linden's back and some other areas, suffer from severe scars from a fire that broke out in one of the compounds outside of Stronghold. There was also the appearance of Infected and he honestly expected to die but awoke back at Stronghold where he was told that someone carried him out and left in a safe place. The scars is one of the reasons why he finds it hard to be with anyone since most people consider it unsightly and no matter how funny and charming he can be, physically, he makes them ill.
- It is obvious that family is important, but no one is more important to him than his parents and siblings. While he cares for his extended family, the "inner circle" as he calls it, gets first dibs on everything.
- When Linden is feeling overwhelmed or stressed about something, he will go into binge eating mode that usually involves a lot of either fried or sugary foods. If it is really bad, copious amounts of alcohol, followed by bad choices, may be involved.
- Genes is such a funny thing. Linden has been told that he is the spitting image of his great-grandfather with similar personality traits and quirks. He has to remind his family to not compare him to the founder/great-grandfather because that means added pressure and expectations that he doesn't want.
