Heath had a rough life growing up, and that turbulent childhood shaped him into the man he is today, and left him with scars on his personality. Unlike many others in the Military, Heath didn't grow up in a Military family, with expectations for him to join Stronghold's regime — rather, it was the complete opposite. Poor family, running a small bar in the Spades Gang's territory, always strapped for cash when the gang members came around looking for payment for "keeping them safe". His parents's fear of the Jabberwockies was passed onto their son — which, later in life, manifested into hatred for what they'd done to his family. Growing up as a child fearful of his own shadow, for it might be the gang coming to beat him up, everything changed the moment Heath decided to sign up for the Military Academy, in hopes to protect his family and others like them.
The Military turned him into everything he, at the time, was not — hardened, jaded, and strong. Heath truly came into himself through the academy, and a newfound love and passion for what the Military did came to light. Some would say he was brainwashed — he would say he was saved. The collapse of humanity had occurred through poor management and weak leaders, but the Military had strengthened humanity through its hold on Stronghold. That was what he'd always wanted; to be strong and protect those that he cared about, through whatever means necessary. His hatred for the underbelly of the city only intensified through his training, and though done in secrecy, his desire to enact revenge on the Jabberwockies grew every day. He was in training the day his parents were murdered by the gang — that one event changed his life forever. He swore that he would rise through the ranks, and eliminate gang scum forever.
Heath changed. There was no room for love in his heart anymore — no room for weakness. He became the perfect loyal soldier, the Military's agenda embedded in every fiber of his being. But he was smart, too. He knew that skill could only get him so far, and so Heath crafted himself the perfect mask to make his way through life. To those that don't know him very well, they see a dedicated but charismatic officer built to please those around him. He's kind and warm, a smile that could light up the room. Those that work under him see a strong and capable leader, and they enjoy being under his command. Behind a web of lies, Heath comes out looking like a positive force that strives to make Stronghold a better place for its citizens. At face value, Heath is a good man — at least, that's what he wants people to see him as.
But that's not the true Heath. Beneath the surface, he's calculating and manipulative, using others for his own gains. He will stop at nothing to enact his revenge on the gang, and those that get in his way become pawns in his game of chess. He's brutal and powerful — commanding those under him with an iron fist; the perfect soldier. When his commanding officer betrayed him — selling his soul to the very gang Heath swore to destroy — he cut himself off completely from forever empathizing with others again. He realized the weakness in trusting others, when it was so easy for them to deceive him from the shadows. He will lie for his own gain, and it no longer matters to him who he hurts in the process. A dominant force, Heath simply takes and uses others — and has the power to back it up. The Lieutenant plays a good game, but his heart's no longer in it, and only time will tell if he'll ever open up to others again.
