Site Re-Opening!

Hello everyone!

It's been a long time since the Staff Team has posted an announcement, but we are excited to announce that we are pulling Blood & Bone out of private mode and once more putting it back into the public writing space! This means new members are once again welcome to look around, join the Discord to meet the members, and potentially even join!

To keep things easy going until everyone gets their feet back under them again, we are removing the activity requirements until September. That means that you won't be required to meet our activity requirement (1 post per month for regular characters, 4 posts per month for high ranking characters) until the end of September. We hope this will help people feel relaxed about writing once more, as well as encourage new members to join without the stress of immediately catching up.

Along with the site opening once more, we have some fun things in plan for the site. Continue reading below to find out what that all entails!

Timeline Update

As the site has been a bit out of the loop for a while now, this is just a gentle reminder that In Character it is now July of the year 2096!

Challenge #01 Conclusion

Last OOC year, during the Cypher's Invitation challenge, a seemingly new level of Infected was revealed to horrified onlookers. Known only as Project X, it appeared to be a highly mutated form of Infected — one that could not be killed, even with a bullet to the brain. Even the highest known form of Infected, Level V, can be killed with a headshot. The Infected eventually broke free of its prison, and while some stayed to fight, most others fled for safety. Amongst the chaos and bloodshed (any player characters that participated in the thread can be assumed to have been unharmed regardless of their choice), Project X escaped Cypher's highly secured building.

Its whereabouts are currently unknown. Top Military officials are on high alert, and Stronghold has now been put in lockdown to prevent the Infected from escaping the walls. Unfortunately, it seems as though Cypher would rather risk the safety of Stronghold's inhabitants, than lose their lab rat. It looks as though The General and Dr. Nadir might be in this together...

NOTE    Although the Challenge took place last year, the Staff Team has decided to push the conclusion of it to the current IC year to make things simpler. That means, for timeline sake, Stronghold has only recently been put into lockdown. This means it is now harder for characters to get in and out of Stronghold, regardless of their faction.

Forum-Generated Random Events

Over the course of the next few weeks, forum-generated random events are finally coming to Blood & Bone! This is a feature that was planned to be implemented upon the site's launch, but unfortunately has been put to the side... Until now!

These are directly tied in with the 'danger level' that is associated with every IC board, displayed via green, yellow, or red text. These random events specifically are tied to the red areas, described with the text: This location is unsecure and Infected attacks are frequent.

Once implemented, any thread created in an IC forum listed as red, unsecure, will have the potential of having a random forum-generated post created in the thread! As these are forum-generated, the Staff Team has no control over them; they are completely done at random, and will contain a vague description of something — most likely Infected related — that will now be included in the thread. Writers participating in the thread will be required to respond to the random event, but may do so however they wish! More details about this system will be revealed closer to its official unveiling.

The Weekly Question

The Staff Team loves watching people further explore and develop their characters! As a means to aid this, and share with others interesting facets of your characters, we are introducing the Weekly Question, where the Staff Team will introduce a in-character development question or topic for you to answer at your leisure!

FUNCTIONALITY   Participation is completely optional. This is meant to be fun, and help you as your characters progress through their various plots!

A new question will be posted every Sunday at approximately noon. This will take place exclusively on Discord and utilize the Discord threading feature in a new channel specifically created for this event.

There's More!

The Staff Team is working behind the scenes on more features to be implemented down the road, including an Achievement System and — this is a big one — more Infected levels! All of these exciting new features being planned will also most likely coincide with a new skin that's being developed behind the scenes, so there's lots to look forward to in the future!
