No matter their expectations; prospectors make their way to a place they could not have imagined. No miracles worked by the advent of the railroad can outlast the forces of nature; High strung wind, entrenching ice, mine-run acids, fires, floods, and avalanche. For every man who strikes it rich, another falls to the elements, or the greedy nature of mankind and their own forms of devastation; Lingering hostilities, violence, disease, and women with guns hidden beneath their petticoats.
