Delilah might have been a two-faced whore but she had a heart at least. As long as there wasn't some sexual favor she could buy from you or you weren't a complete jackass, she was honestly rather sweet. Damon qualified for neither. They were too close in rank and job for the former and he was far too nice to qualify for the latter.
Naturally, this meant he received sincere affection from her. Hey, they might not have been in the same sphere of influence long, but Damon easy to like. Besides--siblings in arms and all that. You looked out for each other when you got hurt--no man left behind. It was an older way of thinking, but one that Delilah desperately hung onto. The higher ups likely wouldn't give them that courtesy... That just made it more important to look after each other. If they didn't?
What would be the point of it all?
It was a reasonable time of day. Off duty (barely), and still in her dress clothes. Promotions mean plainclothes, and ho man did she abuse the power at every opportunity. She didn't have to be straight-laced anymore; no buns or braids or buttons to your neck and sensible, no-heel shoes. So long as her boss wasn't in the room (and sometimes when he was) her blouse was never more than half-buttoned with her sleeves up to her elbows. It was breezy! and she hated having sleeves down to her wrists, besides. They got dirty, and rubbed your skin in weird, uncomfortable ways. Her blazer, standard black and devoid of personality but chock-full of power, was draped over her arm hiding some large unidentifiable package tucked her her elbow when she called upon Damon's residence.
A package that, if anyone knew Delilah well enough to be the one she called upon--was most certainly some sort of gift. Knowing Delilah, and her penchant for the useful, and the practical and above all: consumable, it was likely some sort of delicious treat or drink.
She was polite, patient and on her best behavior until she saw his face. There was little in the ways of small talk and the pretense of respectability was almost immediately dropped. If allowed to, she'd be in his home in a heartbeat, kicking her heels off at the door (because no one likes a dirty house) and making herself at home.
"Boomstick! How are you doing? Are you ready for hot gossip?" Just because he was on leave, didn't mean that Delilah was going to make him feel like he was left out, after all.
