Étienne was born and raised in the Inner Citadel, to the influential Blanchards. He was their only son, and as such he was raised to one day join the corporate legion of Stronghold and continue on the family name. But no matter how hard his parents pushed, Étienne didn't want to be part of that life. He was bored with the rich and famous, and found friendship with only a few other rich kids. The Ex-Friend was one of them. Roughly the same age as Étienne, they grew up together — only for their friendship to be severed as they grew older, and realized they were going in two different directions with their life. What was once friendship turned into spite, and now enemies — only time will tell if they can repair the relationship they once had... Or if they will continue to battle on opposite sides.

The Ex-Friend grew up with Étienne, seeing as how their parents were close friends with one another. While Étienne's family were involved in the corporate world, the Ex-Friend's family was involved in the Military. They were thick as thieves as children, and as they grew older, Étienne realized he was only attracted to men, and began to harbour a small crush towards the friend. Maybe they gave their virginity to one another, or maybe Étienne remained quiet about his crush — this part we can talk about. Whatever the case, they were very close with one another growing up, but that all began to fell apart once the Ex-Friend was enrolled in the Military academy, and Étienne discovered life outside the walls of Stronghold.

Étienne met members of Eclipse and began to fall in love with the anti-Military organization, pulling him away from his Ex-Friend who became more and more entrenched in the ideology of the Military. Their personalities began to clash — the two friends, who were once as close as blood brothers, began to realize they no longer saw eye to eye on basic issues. When the Ex-Friend graduated Military academy and became an official officer, he was given a custom-made pistol by his parents — a pistol that Étienne later on stole out of spite, before up and disappearing from Stronghold forever. That pistol is the gun Étienne always carries on him now, almost like some kind of reminder of the man he used to be friends with. But ever since he left Stronghold without a word, he never once sought out his Ex-Friend, and for 10 years now they haven't been in contact with one another, or even know if the other is still alive.

DIRECTION

A couple months ago, Étienne's parents reached out to the Ex-Friend, paying him to try and track down their son. Although it's been 10 years since his disappearance, they still have hope that he's alive out there somewhere. The Ex-Friend agreed to take on the case — although he surely has his own, personal reasons for wanting to find Étienne.

This plot is going to be filled with emotional drama, especially once the Ex-Friend — who is pro-Military and believes in them wholeheartedly — realizes that Étienne is now the leader of the organization directly in conflict with the Military. For lack of a better word they are enemies on opposite sides of the 'political' spectrum, and they will have to navigate many obstacles when they meet one another again. I'm personally down for seeing the direction these two take based solely through rp — that is to say, I would love to organically write this plot rather than plan out whether the ending between them will be good or not. Whether or not they become friends again, or remain as traumatic enemies, remains to be seen.

The only direction this plot won't head is a romantic one. Étienne has a planned ship already, and thus nothing of that nature can happen.
