A born and raised Drifter, River took refuge in knowing... or believing, that she was under no one's control. That she was as free as a bird. Just as her late parents had done, she was raised on the ways of the healer. She studied the use of plants as medicine, how to stitch someone up, and how to set a broken leg (amongst other things). Life was tough, but it was her own. Those are the parts that she remembers. The parts before waking up in a dingy old building with years of her life missing altogether. The words "Je t'aime pour toujours", elegantly written on a piece of paper and a throbbing headache was all River had left of a life that she had very little memory of. Seemingly abandoned in a world of chaos and danger, River learned the hard way what it meant to truly be alone. Having lost her parents to the virus, she was like a ship lost at sea with no direction. At first, she was confused, angry, and afraid. It was the unknown that kept her up at night, and when she did sleep blurred visions and shadow figures haunted her dreams. There have been many close calls in her journey, at times she thought for sure her luck had run out. But in true River style, she's managed to keep afloat another day.
