A strong hand pinned him to the back of the leather car seat. His cheeks flushed, not out of embarrassment at the chastising he was going to get, but the feeling of those rough, sturdy fingers on his shoulders. Hands that could easily lift Ares, pin him against a wall and-

Oh fuck. Why'd he have to be so, so horny all the time? His mind, drawn in focus and a desire to win, was muddled and sex-addled. It almost made Ares mad and he flashed a look that could easily have been irritation from Etienne's reprimanding. In reality, it was anger that Etienne could undo him with a single touch, and diffident frustration and whether he was doing it on purpose. The blaring heat on his cheeks surely felt apparent.

Ares audibly breathed. “Right,” he said, in resignation, drawing his hand away from the grip of the pistol. The game had overtaken him, marred their true purpose here. Ares had to remember, if he wanted to garner respect, especially in front of his Boss, it was business first (sadly). Something twisted in his gut when Etienne squeezed his shoulder and Ares mumbled back, “In your dreams!”

Instinctively, Ares knew when to roll the jeep to a halt. It was when the world felt silent, and even the leaves barely rustled. It was the horrible smell that rolled over them, a smell so vigorous one could taste it on their tongue. He had seen new scouts retch at it. Ares shut the engine off with purposeful turn of the keys and slid out of the driver's seat. He rustled around in their supplies, garnering the necessary equipment- knapsacks, ammunition, first aid, grenades in case the situation got hairy.

It ran like clockwork, so Ares' mind could drift off into what exactly his reward would be. Access to the Jeep would be great, but Ares couldn't ignore the look in his green-blue eyes that told him there was something better at stake. Rarely was Ares so quiet, and it was in these bouts of silence that Etienne could probably guess at what he was thinking.

Ares knew this, so when he was finished, he cocked his gun and looked over at Etienne, the adventurous flare in his eyes returning. “Ready to lose?”, he threw up an arrogant grin that very much mimicked Etienne's.

Well, Ares was a cocky little shit, wasn't he? The thought makes Étienne grin — just his kind of man. Anyone who met the Boss for even a few minutes would be able to tell right away the man had an ego the size of Stronghold, so there was something refreshing about someone that could easily match his snark with their own. He laughs at the threat the younger man throws at him, eventually pulling his hand away from his shoulder that he can settle back in its own seat, grey-blue eyes trained to the road ahead. In the small bit of time between their conversation and Ares pulling to a halt, the Eclipe Boss fishes his comms device out of his pack to look down at the supplies list he'd been given for them to fetch.

Only when the engine dies and the jeep rolls to a halt, does Étienne's attention once more return to the present. Slipping the electronic device into a pocket, the man mirrors the other by getting out of his seat and slamming the door shut behind him. Rather than open the back door on his side, the French man maneuvers his way over to the other side of the vehicle, leaning against the driver side door while he watched Ares prepare their supplies from the back seat.

He lifts a foot to rest against the jeep as he crosses his arms in front of him — a position of power and superiority as he made sure, mentally, the younger man was grabbing everything necessary for them to head out. They're both quiet for the moment — but the silence doesn't last long, when Ares finishes the preparations and throws a challenge Étienne's way. The man cocks an eyebrow with an amused grin on his face, as he finally pushes himself away for the vehicle so he can round the open door and reach past Ares to grab his own pack from the back seat.

“I suppose there's always a first time for everything,” Étienne winks in response, cocky enough to assume he wouldn't be the one losing. Without missing a beat, the man leans over suddenly and gives Ares a good slap on the ass — a gesture done only to motivate the young man, yeah, that's it — before heading off away from the jeep, pack slung over his shoulder and his own custom pistol ready in one hand.

That fluttering sensation, the one that beat against his innards like a nervous fly? It exploded into something that caught in his throat when he felt Ettie's hand on his ass. It was a quick, amicable strike, like soldiers who were close to each other would give in those comics he read. But from Etienne, the man he had been head over heels in love with since he first felt the flutters of a first crush, it was enough to make him loose his grip on his pistol. The weapon jostled around in his grasp, threatening to topple to the ground, but Ares, out of some miracle of instinct, kept a handle on it. Moreso, he looked back, quick enough to see the flash of that beautiful, cocksure smile of Etienne and the equally arrogant saunter away from the jeep.

His brows drew down, annoyance, excitement and affection all blending into that dangerous and special emotion that only Ettie could elicit. He leapt over the jeep bed, forgetting and uncaring of whether it was locked and secured, and rushed after Ettie.

He had meant to deliver the same treatment to the Eclipse Boss. Just a pace back, he wound his hand up, ready to deliver an even louder slap to the man's (exquisite) ass. Etienne must have been alerted to Ares' attention, and turned around to have faced him. Whatever the reason, his hand did not meet fleshy cheek but instead the front of Etienne's pants, squarely where the man's sizable and soft bulge hung. Ares paused, feeling his mouth grow dry and his fingers shrivel at the touch.

Stunned at his failed objective, his eyes slid up Ettie's torso, slowly, reluctant to meet them and afraid of what he might find. He was as tall as Etienne, but felt small under the other's gaze, burning in embarrassment.

"Uhh.." What words failed to communicate, the intense redness of his cheeks spoke.

Étienne's attention is already focused on their surroundings as he heads away from the jeep, gun in hand and pack slung across one of his shoulders. When the crunching of gravel underfoot reaches his ear — quick-paced, like someone running at him — the Boss immediately turns around to confront who it was. He knew Ares was right behind him of course, but he wasn't expecting him to come running at him; for all he knew, it could have been an Infected already lurking and eager to take a bite out of one of them. Better to be safe than sorry, right?

Unfortunately, he most definitely was sorry.

His eyes meet Ares's face just seconds before a hand suddenly whacks him against the crotch, a sudden gesture that forced a small grunt out of him as surprise flickers across his face. It's not hard enough to hurt, but what he doesn't expect is for the hand to stay where it is.

Silence hangs uncomfortably in the air between them as the surprise remains trained to Étienne's face, his grey-blue eyes pinned to the darker brown of Ares's eyes as they slowly begin to lift, hesitant and almost afraid to meet his gaze. The dusting of red spreads across Ares's cheeks — an obvious sentiment of embarrassment, one that Étienne wasn't afraid to admit he liked seeing on his partner's face. Only when the quizzical stammering leaves the other man's lips does Étienne's expression finally change, an arrogant grin twisting his lips as his gaze slightly darkens.

“Yes, that is my dick,” he confirms in a heated tone, a laugh filling the space after his words. “As much as I would love to take you up on your offer,” a quick wink in Ares's direction as the man leans forward slightly, “I don't think now is exactly the time. Win first, then maybe we'll come back to this?” He laughs again, amused at Ares's failed blunder.

All while he chuckles and teases the younger man, he chooses not to move away from the hand still groping his bulge through his pants. There's definitely a part of him that stirs at the feeling of Ares's hand on his crotch, but he swiftly reminds himself this was the worst place to engage in anything other than stealth. Arching a brow in Ares's direction, he finally takes a step away from the hand and continues on in the direction he was initially headed — a grin still plastered across his lips.

Every part of him burned, and Ettie's coy words and suggestive grin only added kindling to the fire. Sense, at least part of it, told him to put his fingers away, and yet he could still feel the form of Etienne's cock at the tips of his fingers. At the same time, his gaze quickly flashed down, and he could not meet Etienne's eyes, would not, for if he did he was sure he would throw up or pass out or something.

They had been lovers for a while now, and yet Etienne still made his heart jump and butterflies tease the insides of his stomach. This was apparent in how bashful and quiet Ares' became, as he slunk after Etienne, feeling the coquettish and arrogant smile stretched on his Boss' lips. Somehow, he suspected Etienne knew this too, and was teasing him on purpose, but Ares would never ask. Instead, he fell into step next to Etienne, hoping the firm surety of his pistol would keep his mind off of the encounter.

"You're- you're not going to tell anyone about that, right?" Ares asked after a while, unable to keep the words from spilling out, evident to where his thoughts had laid all the time they were walking. The looter already suspected, and dreaded, the answer and steeled himself against Ettie's inevitably snarky response. They were interrupted, however, when Ares suddenly stopped and lifted his pistol, his stance going from relaxed to focused and firm with disciplined quickness.

"I think I heard something," Ares whispered, his eyes concentrated on the long shadows of the fir trees that surrounded them. Dawn was breaking through the canopy, yet there was still insufficient light to be sure that the Infected had retreated for the day.

The crunching of rocks and gravel underfoot is the only sound that fills the surrounding area, punctuated occasionally by the tweeting of birds from somewhere far off. Étienne concentrates on their surroundings as he takes the lead, knowing they had a fair distance to go before they'd reach the supplies cache that was their destination. The silence is broken when Ares suddenly speaks up, drawing their attention back to what had happened minutes earlier. The Eclipse Boss stops in his tracks, eyes drifting over to look at the still-red face of the younger man.

Étienne smirks, the wolfish grin undeniable, even if internally he already knows the answer. Much as he enjoys teasing Ares, all to get that sexy blush to spread across his cheeks, he isn't one to kiss and tell. He wasn't about to go around spreading gossip about something that only the two of them needed to know. But that didn't mean that he wasn't about to make Ares think that he would tell others. Make him squirm a little.

Before he can say anything, Ares reacts to a noise close by, and Étienne adopts a similar stance to the young looter as his eyes focus in on the same direction as Ares. There's a rustling in the trees from the wind carried in, but other than that he doesn't hear anything.

Not that silence was necessarily a good thing.

“If there is something there, doesn't look like it's willing to show its face,” Étienne muses, relaxing slightly as he adjusts the bag on his back. “Let's keep moving, but keep an eye out.” Étienne pulls his comm device from his pocket and opens up the rough description of the supplies cache that they were looking for. A map would have been nicer, but, they had to work with what they got. At least it was something.

“Now's as good a time as any to test you on your Infected knowledge. What level of Infected stalks its prey by hiding?” Étienne questions Ares as he sets off once more, making sure to keep his ears open to any sound that might come from behind them. He doesn't doubt that Ares had heard something, but if it really was a Hunter, they were better off continuing rather than waiting around and hoping it would pop out. Those damn creatures loved stalking their prey from the shadows, and only when they were ready, would the Eclipse duo be able to take it on. The good part was that they didn't tend to run in packs.

At Etienne's assurance that the sound he had heard was one that was unlikely a danger in its present state, Ares' cheeks flushed, and he could only be thankful for the soft breeze that whistled between the trees around them. He relaxed, at both a willingness to save face and at the noticeably tempered draw of his guider's shoulders. As Etienne inspected his device, Ares' kept his eyes scanning the dark undergrowth. Why did Infected like to nest themselves in the creepiest spots possible?

The fear of the unknown, and the momentary bashfulness of the overcautious draw of his weapon, stifled as Ettie threw a question his way. Ares loved every opportunity where he could demonstrate his intellect to the man he admired most in the world and said without missing a beat, "That would be Level 2 Infected, boss, or 'hunters' as they're commonly known." His voice was proud as he recited what he'd studied from his comm device (at Tabitha's insistence), perhaps its volume a bit too ill-fitted for their current predicament. Not wanting to leave his mentor underwhelmed, Ares tacked on, "They're probably the most common type of Infected to come across and they- they..."

His face ran white as he realized he had come across a mental stump, in that he could not remember what else were significant about hunters. He racked his brain, trying to recall what Tabitha had instructed to him, what information he agonizingly picked at as he read, "They.. uh.."

Great, now he felt like a fool. He squinted his face in an exertion that looked life or death in his desperation to remember. What was that thing they did? A mantra rung itself in his mind, one that he subconsciously whispered under his breath,

"Feral packs snack, reaper leaders breed, hunters roam alone, and will leave you to bleed.."

With a sparkle in his eye, Ares repeated the last phrase, louder and with confidence that Ettie could hear, "Hunters will leave you bleed!"
