Slowly, the sun began to set below the walls of the stronghold, sending the slums into darkness with the exception of the strange red lights that dotted the doorways of some buildings. What was the point of such an annoyingly tacky color? Isabella had wandered into the red light district thanks to the directions of one of her trusted sources in her search for the wonderful Ace of hearts. She wondered if he wasn’t as tacky as those silly lights. Bella stuck out in the slowly dwindling crowd like a purebred locked in a pound full of mutts dressed like someone that had just left a grand event. Bella adorned a white dress that fell just above her knees and matching heels, wrapped tightly around her neck was a diamond necklace that only highlighted the gruesome scars that ran up the side of her neck and down her shoulder. Her arrogance was so painfully obvious, but her confidence in her surroundings was dwindling with the sun, well aware of what these people were capable of in the right circumstances. She traveled with a single guard and one of her loyal Dobermans. She made sure to let Leo know where she was going as well in case anything bad was to happen. At least he would know where to collect her body from.
Bella wasn’t dumb enough to move into Hearts territory looking to start trouble. She was, however, dumb enough to walk into a red light district with no idea of what that meant. She never had the forethought to question things like that, she just thought they were too poor to afford regular white lights or maybe that was all they provided on this side of the slums… while she was well aware that the hearts were a part of the sex trade as well as other much darker things. She wasn’t aware just yet that she was surrounded by brothels, she wouldn’t have been caught dead there if she had known…. In her mind, a brothel was an old wooden building with swinging doors and women of ill repute hanging out the windows in weird ruffled dresses calling men in like in the books she had read! She figured she was just in another neighborhood…boy was she wrong. The longer she was there, the later it got, the later it got the more people seemed to fill the already small space of the streets. It wasn’t long before she was separated from her guard as she wandered even deeper into the district.
She just wanted to meet the Ace of Hearts hours, but that was turning into an increasingly difficult job as the hour got later and later, soon she was so far lost that she didn’t recognize anything around her. Every time someone even brushed against her arm her skin felt like it was on fire. She hated it here, the streets were too narrow, there was no keeping people away. Her dog was quickly picking up on her stress and in turn becoming stressed out himself, snapping out more violently and unhinged now as he did his job trying to protect his owner. It was time to get off the streets, at least for now, she was tired, her dog was tired, and this was starting to seem like a lost cause. Seeing a few people file into a building with a red light, she figured maybe it was a hotel, pushing through the door herself in hopes of a place to stay for a few hours if not the night…boy was she wrong.
” I just need a room for the night, please., Her tone was soft though obviously tired, the confused woman near the door looked at Isabella in disbelief, unsure of what she meant but proceeded to lead her through the hall and to a room. It was set up like any bedroom would be, though unlike any hotel she had stayed at in the past things were awfully loud around her. Laughing, giggling, and moaning seemed to surround her. Any other time she would have turned her nose up at the sight of this room but she was so tired all she could do was accept her surroundings. She tied her dog to the dresser so he wouldn’t pester her for pets and plopped herself down belly first on the end of the bed, kicking her heels off as a sigh left her lips. Little did she know whispers were quickly moving through the brothel about some inner citadel bitch being up in one of the rooms. Before long news had spread through the entire building as they wondered if they should send someone up to her or not. Meanwhile, Isabella, Ace of Diamonds, is convinced she is trying to sleep in the world's worst and loudest hotel. If the damn banging in the room next door would stop she might get a little sleep in.
