Sleep pretty much fucked off to some other place—or at least good sleep. Gabrian would have been better off having a one night stand, at least then he'd have done something strenuous. Wasn't enough to completely tire him out, but it was better than him tossing and turning within sleep and staring at the ceiling of a shipping container without it. At some point, the man had decided to get up and continue working on some sketches that he had started on a few days ago for some future projects that he was thinking of.

If all else failed, Gabrian knew that he could lean upon his work to take his mind away. Like reading fiction books with whole different worlds, it was a form of escapism. There was no room for his personal problems when he was thinking about how much weight he could put on weapon with mods before it weighed a bit too much to haul around in a fast-paced environment. It reminded him of a book in found in some rubble several looting jobs ago. The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien. He had a copy just like—albeit a fresher one with crisp pages—that his father gave to him. It stuck with Gabrian.

By the time he got finished, the sun was up and the day was ready to start. After he cleaned himself up, he went on to the workshop so that he can put some finishing touches on a car that he had been working on. He hadn't told anyone about it, but the idea popped into his head to mod some cars to be a turret rig. He wanted it to be a surprise because it was one of his bigger projects. The first person that he wanted to show was Étienne, and maybe they could take it out for a little test.

He liked to give his mod projects names. He named this one the Scourge. Gabe had another one named Rhino, but that one wasn't quite finished yet. He asked one of his Suns to send for Étienne and tell him that he had a surprise. He would be finished by the time the boss got there to get a look.

Étienne doesn't like being woken up early in the morning.

He's more of a night owl, someone that prefers doing their work by moonlight rather than sunlight. It's something that was well known about the Junkyard, that the Boss liked sleeping in when he could. But he was still an adult with responsibilities, and unfortunately the man wasn't always able to get his way — Eclipse had to run, and he understood that. Doesn't mean he didn't mutter French swears under his breath the entire time while changing, of course. There was still some excitement about being given the news that Gabrian was looking for him. The French man knew his Right Hand had been experimenting with something new lately, and he was eager to see the man's work up close. Even if that meant getting up at an ungodly hour.

Something of a mechanic himself — self-taught — he was always intrigued about anything new that was produced in Eclipse, especially when it related to their vehicles. The intrigue had him moving fast, and Étienne was dressed and out the door of his storage container 'apartment' in record time. Cool air greets him and a shiver runs through his body — ah yes, summer was indeed over and the thrill of autumn was beginning to sink its claws into the land. Clenching the sides of his coat tighter against his body, Étienne heads off down the rickety staircase and across the Junkyard in the direction of the Workshop. At least in Eclipse's more private area, he wouldn't have to deal with any of the drifters that came in and out of their camp.

A few hellos are passed between him and fellow Eclipse members, but he doesn't stop to chat with any of them. He makes quick progress of the trek, and within minutes he's opening the door to the Workshop and slipping inside. Warmth creeps back into his body again, and he closes the door behind him to make sure the warmth stays where it should.

“Morning, Gabrian,” Étienne greets the man as he draws closer, grey-blue eyes focused on the man's face for a moment before drifting to the new toy installed on the vehicle. “I've been looking forward to seeing what you've been working on. What do you got for me?” he questions, a light smile on his face, even if he covers a yawn with a gloved hand.

Notes: Scourge w/o color | Scourge w/ color

He had a tarp carefully placed over Scourge and Rhino. Both modified vehicles had some add-ons that were pretty sharp, so Gabrian was mindful of that. He treat any rust that was on the parts so that they could all function properly and without mistake. He was still in the process of doing that for Rhino. His first and second loves were his wife and daughter when it came to people. Other than that though, taking things apart and creating things had also been a love of his. Destruction and creation had been there for him where he held a void. And even though it could never quite make up for what he lost, it was a good way to cope. The healthiest he could think of as opposed to other ways that could mean his own self-destruction.

Gabrian knew that Étienne wasn't the most chipper being in the mornings, but he was confident that he could make the rising worth his while. So, when he came by, Gabrian gave him a small grin before unsheathing the Scourge, decked out with a turret and special seat for the turret operator, blades on the front for those crazed infected who won't get out of the way, and a few odds and ends. He took a step back to take a full look at the beauty, satisfied with his work. "Call 'er the Scourge. Blades on the front for some crowd control, turret in the back to take down what the blades miss. It can make jobs easier, can't go wrong with some added protection."

The man gestured to the other cloaked vehicle near Scourge. "That's Rhino over there. Similar idea I'm doing for that one, but different parts so that they serve a slightly different purpose. I still need to finish him though. Whatcha thinkin'? Scourge is ready for a test drive, if you're feeling risky."

Étienne's met with a grin from the other man, before Gabrian pulls a tarp from the vehicle closest to him and unveils his latest invention. The Eclipse Boss can't help but whistle at the sight, impressed with what he was looking at. Normally Eclipse simply fixed up old vehicles enough so that they could run without breaking down, and left it at that. It wasn't often that they customized them — considering the scarcity of good supplies, many of which could be easily sold off for profit as is, it wasn't really a surprise. But Gabrian was one of the few that Étienne was fine with giving a little leeway to use spare parts to create something new for the gang.

This was definitely a good one. The French man could immediately spot the more impressive add-ons to the vehicle, built to mow down Infected that were normally quite hardy creatures. They weren't necessarily the type you'd want to ram into with a truck, but this made it so that a feat such as that could be more attainable. Really was impressive.

“Indeed, anything that can make raids safer and quicker are always welcome in my books,” Étienne comments in response to Gabrian's first few words, taking time now to round the vehicle and inspect it more closely. He trails a hand over the metal, noticing the intricate way in which the man had attached certain parts to the vehicle. As someone who was into the mechanic portion of vehicle maintenance, Étienne was always willing to learn something new.

His eyes leave Scourge for a moment now as he turns his attention to the other vehicle, still covered, supposedly nicknamed Rhino by Gabrian. Étienne lifts a brow at the names of the two vehicles, but doesn't do more than let out a soft chuckle. Eventually he steps back once finished inspecting Scourge, his arms crossing over one another in front of his chest as his grey-blue gaze drifts over to Gabrian, a soft grin on his face.

“Impressive work as always, Gabrian. We're sure lucky to have you,” he comments with another glance in the direction of both vehicles. “You know me, I'm always down to test out the new vehicles that come through this Workshop. But before we head out, I want you to tell me more about the purpose of each one. You mentioned the other you're working on will be for a different purpose? I can only assume this one is more for an... Offensive raid,” a flick of his hand is offered in the direction of Scourge as Étienne speaks, his attention returning to the other man.
