Sleep pretty much fucked off to some other place—or at least
good sleep. Gabrian would have been better off having a one night stand, at least then he'd have done something strenuous. Wasn't enough to completely tire him out, but it was better than him tossing and turning within sleep and staring at the ceiling of a shipping container without it. At some point, the man had decided to get up and continue working on some sketches that he had started on a few days ago for some future projects that he was thinking of.
If all else failed, Gabrian knew that he could lean upon his work to take his mind away. Like reading fiction books with whole different worlds, it was a form of escapism. There was no room for his personal problems when he was thinking about how much weight he could put on weapon with mods before it weighed a bit too much to haul around in a fast-paced environment. It reminded him of a book in found in some rubble several looting jobs ago.
The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien. He had a copy just like—albeit a fresher one with crisp pages—that his father gave to him. It stuck with Gabrian.
By the time he got finished, the sun was up and the day was ready to start. After he cleaned himself up, he went on to the workshop so that he can put some finishing touches on a car that he had been working on. He hadn't told anyone about it, but the idea popped into his head to mod some cars to be a turret rig. He wanted it to be a surprise because it was one of his bigger projects. The first person that he wanted to show was Étienne, and maybe they could take it out for a little test.
He liked to give his mod projects names. He named this one the
Scourge. Gabe had another one named Rhino, but that one wasn't quite finished yet. He asked one of his Suns to send for Étienne and tell him that he had a surprise. He would be finished by the time the boss got there to get a look.
